STD
STD or sexually transmitted disease is affecting thirteen million people in each year in United States alone and numbers continue to increase not just in U.S but worldwide. This is because most people do not know that they are already infected with STD.
STD are inections which are cause by bacteria, viruses and parasites and ther are transmitted through sexual contact to a person with STD. At present, there are over twenty types of STD. Here are some examples of STD with their symptoms:
Chlamydia
Symptoms:
- Abnormal vaginal discharge
- Pain in urinating
- Unusual bleeding between menstrual cycle
Gonorrhea
Symptoms:
- Burning sensation while urinating
- Vaginal discharge maybe yellowish or may even be bloody
- Unusual bleeding between menstrual cycle
Most women do not exhibit any symptoms and there are some cases in which gonorrhea is mistaken for another condition.
Bacterial Vaginosis
Symptoms:
- Vaginal itching
- Pain while urinating
- Unusual vaginal discharge
Genital Herpes
Symptoms:
- Fluid filled blisters
- Unusual vaginal dicharge
- Body aches
- Pain while urinating
- Fever
- Swollen lymp nodes
HIV/AIDS
Symptoms:
Some people infected with HIV/AIDS may not show symptoms. Those who exhibit symptoms may experience:
- Malaise
- Alarming weight loss
- Night sweats
- Frequent fever
- May have yeast infections
- May have other forms of sexually transmitted diseases
Spread of STD
The risk of spreading STD is very high since due to misinformation or lack or proper information regarding STD.
Contacting STD is very possible since you cannot really identify who has the infection. Most cases do not really know that they carry the disease until their conditions show severe symptoms. It is also a wrong perception that STD cannot be spread through anal or oral sexual contact but accordingly this is a myth as STD can still be spread if the person have cut or open sores in his anal or mouth area.
Some of the things that increase the risk of getting STD may include:
- Starting any sexual activity early
- Engaging sexual contact with multiple partners
- Engaging in any unprotected sexual contact
Treatment of STD
Treatment of STD vary depending on the type of STD the person contacted. Medicines are given to control symptoms and there are also some shot that may be given for protection. Consult your health care provider to know the available treatment for your condition.
